Maui Fire Recovery

Aloha Maui Ohana –

August 8th was a terrible day for our island – fires in multiple locations across the island with the loss of close to 500 homes, dozens of deaths, and countless lives disrupted. And of course the near total devastation of the town of Lahaina. We are all in shock; we are a big island but a small community so this tragedy touches all of us.

Ha’iku was largely untouched by these events but we nevertheless feel it is our kuleana to help our Maui ohana in any way we can. The Ha’iku Community Association therefore is dedicating all donations made to HCA over the next 60 days to be applied directly to Maui fire relief. We will be working with local partners to distribute funds, partly as cash grants and partly in-kind (food, clothing, other goods) to affected families and individuals. HCA will use 100% of the donated funds for direct relief.

Donations can be done easily using a credit card through the website or by sending a check to the HCA.  The HCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization so all donations are tax deductible.
