HCA Letter to BLNR on 30-Year Lease

In September, 2021, the Hawai’i State BLNR (Board for Land and Natural Resources) held hearing to consider whether to accept an EIS (environmental impact statement) from A&B as part of their request for a lease on water rights from the East Maui watershed. This has been a long, contentious battle involving A&B, EMI, the Hawai’i legislature, the courts, BLNR and various concerned citizens and groups. HCA submitted the letter attached here as testimony, in opposition to the EIS and the 30-year lease. Many other groups submitted testimony also.
